How to add new Categories to your Licence
Make sure you are clear which licence you require.
See https://www.gov.uk/driving-licence-categories for guidance on which licence you need, or give us a call if you are unsure.
Please note, for professional drivers (ie where the majority of your paid work involves driving) you must complete a CPC initial qualification, as well as the relevant licence.
Do you require a medical?
For the trailer test (B+E), no medical is needed.
You must have a medical prior to applying for your Minibus (D1) or 7.5 Tonne (C1) licence.
You can contact your own doctor to arrange a medical (you will normally be charged for it). Make sure you take a form D4 with you (download from...).
Or, for a small fee we can arrange for your medical to be carried out on site.
How to apply for your new licence?
Order the required forms from gov..
The forms need to be completed and sent with your driving licence to DVLA (we advise you to keep copies)
Theory tests
There is no Theory Test to tow a trailer (B+E) .
For Minibus (D1) and 7.5 Tonne (C1) licenses, a theory test must be passed before the practical test can be arranged.
For professional drivers CPC Module 2 must be passed.
You can book your theory test online at ww.gov.uk.
The test is taken at your local test centre (The Hereford test centre is in Broad Street)
Our qualified teachers can provide tuition if required.
Driver training
We offer 3 day courses in Trailers(B+E), Minibus(D1) or 7.5 Tonne (C1). Additional hourly training is available if required.
As well as on-the-road training, we also use our own privately run DSA approved training centre at Hereford Lads Club.
For Minibus (D1) and 7.5 Tonne (C1) tests we recommend you use your own vehicles.
For Trailer tests we will provide the vehicle and the trailer.
Practical tests
All practical tests are taken at our own test centre at Hereford Lads Club, and carried out by a Driving Standards Agency examiner.
The test can be taken on day 3 of your driver training course, or can be booked separately
For CPC Initial, the CPC Module 4 Vehicle Safety Demonstration will be evaluated at the same time.
